Hi I am Sarah I am a freelance dancer/dance teacher/choreographer, born in the Netherlands. After finishing my education at the Havo Voor Muziek en Dans I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Dance at the Codarts Dance Academy in Rotterdam.

Whilst there I gained an apprenticeship with Club Guy&Roni were I later became part of the company touring throughout Europe with Guy&Roni’s production, Language of Walls. From 2004 I worked as a freelance dancer in Amsterdam with several choreographers including Leine&Roebana where I danced in productions as Ditto, Eye in All, Terts, Sporen, Ballads. In 2006 I moved to the UK to join the Henri Oguike Dance Company in London as a company member. Performing old and new repetoire with the company including; Front Line, Tiger Dancing, White Space, Second Signal, Finale, Little Red, Green in Blue and Touching All/All Around. Touring in the UK, China, Israel, US (Jacobs Pillow festival), Portugal, Italy, Switzerland (Steps Festival) and Germany. This spring I made a guest appearance as a dancer in Henri Oguike’s new triple bill Butterfly Dreaming, performing in the piece Toccato on cello suites by Bach at The Royal Opera House.

I was the educational facilitator of the Henri Oguike Dance Company and still am a freelance contemporary teacher at several schools throughout the UK including Laban, The Place, London Studio Centre and Swindon Dance. I also teach the young talents at several Centre for Advanced Training Schemes in the UK and next to creating my own work and dance films I choreograph for youth, semi professional and community dance projects.

Earlier this year I became a mummy of a little girl and live somewhat changed. I still am dancing teaching a creating my own dance works but have also started to finally realise my own Handmade By Sarah knitwear brand. I knit and crochet scarfs, snoods, hats, baby booties, blankets, cardigans and jumpers. All one of a kind! They’re perfect little presents and very special ones as there is only one of each. Snuggly snoods for the winter or baby blankets for Autumn/Spring. I work on my own and sell at several places in Hitchin, including the Sunday Hitchin Market have sold many scarfs since I started and hope to set up an online shop soon!!! Dear Carla,

Thank you very much for coming to the show and for your kind words. I only had four short rehearsal session the week before the show. Which is not a lot but working with Henri you get trained to use your brain and not get scared when things are perhaps unclear or not fully decided upon. Those moment create a very special energy where the dancers have to fill in the gaps with their own character. Very much enjoyed being a guest dancer with the company the dancers all are great and fun to work with.

      Hopefully see you again soon.
